Settings, past Feiseanna and offline syllabuses

1. Share the app or send feedback

   Settings now has Share FeisClár and Feedback tiles below the help banner. Scroll to Contact FeisClár for support, Feis submissions and school requests. The Feis and Classes workspaces show different preferences.

2. Find an event that has ended

   Open Calendar and choose the month. Scroll below upcoming events to Past Feiseanna, where available, then open the event to record or review results.

3. Keep a syllabus for offline use

   Open the Feis details and tap its syllabus control when available. Download it while connected, then open the saved copy before travelling. Settings → Downloaded Syllabuses lists cached files. An external web page opens in the browser when you confirm; it is not a saved offline PDF.

4. Review confirmations

   The app uses notification banners and confirmation sheets for actions such as leaving unsaved results or removing records. Read the action and any erase warning before confirming.

Review terms before sharing

Plan new terms in draft, publish the schedule when ready, and choose which future lessons a time change affects.

1. Plan privately

   New and copied terms start in draft. Review dates, breaks, venues and enrolments in the teacher timetable before sharing.

2. Publish the reviewed timetable

   Open the term and choose Publish term changes. Connected dancers receive the published schedule after a successful sync. Saved schedule edits need to be published again before they replace that shared version.

3. Choose the edit scope

   When changing a lesson, review whether the change applies to this lesson, this and following lessons, or future lessons in the series. For schedules with several weekly slots, check whether you selected one slot or all slots. Completed history is preserved.

Follow a term, week by week

Filter by term and date range, open a week’s lessons and venue details, and save confirmed term lessons to a calendar file.

1. Find the right dates

   In the dancer lesson list, choose a term and use Upcoming or All dates independently. Open a term’s weekly lesson count to see the exact lesson dates and times, then open a lesson for its details.

2. Check the venue

   Open the venue from a lesson to see its address, room, access information and directions where supplied.

3. Save the term calendar

   After publishing a term, teachers can save its confirmed, scheduled lessons as an .ics file. Dancers can export their own shared lessons. Review the lesson count, save the file and import it into your calendar. Draft, cancelled and provisional lessons are excluded.

4. Keep calendar copies current

   This is a one-time copy. Later changes do not update an imported calendar automatically. Review existing entries before importing again, as repeat imports can create duplicates.

Request a private lesson

Teachers publish available slots; dancers request a time and wait for teacher confirmation after capacity and conflict checks.

1. Teachers: prepare availability

   Open Private lessons, choose the date, venue, times, slot length, capacity and eligible dancers, and optionally set a booking deadline. Create draft slots, then publish those you want to offer.

2. Dancers: request a time

   Open Private lessons available from Classes home. Check the venue time zone, places shown at the last sync and any known lesson or recorded Feis-day warning, then choose Request this slot. Offline requests wait for sync.

3. Wait for confirmation

   A request is not a reservation. The owning teacher reviews pending requests and chooses Confirm after conflict check or Decline. Both devices must sync before the updated decision appears for the dancer.

4. Withdraw with care

   Dancers can withdraw pending requests. Teachers can withdraw a slot; review the warning because this cancels pending requests and future unfinalised bookings.

Share a dancer summary in Word or PDF

Choose the dancer, reporting period and sections, preview their progress, then export an editable Word document or a PDF.

1. Open the report

   In the teacher workspace, open a student and choose Dancer summary · Word / PDF report. Select the student dancer you want to report on.

2. Choose the period and content

   Use the 1, 3, 6 or 12 month shortcuts or choose dates. Select the school/teacher header, Feis results, group or private attendance, dance competition levels, Grade 1–10 examinations, promotions and published feedback as needed.

3. Preview before exporting

   Review the report on screen, then export Word (.docx) for editing or PDF for sharing. Reports use the records available on this device; sync connected records before preparing a report.

4. Understand the record

   Competition levels and grade examinations are separate sections. Going responses do not prove attendance. A report is a snapshot for sharing, not a restorable .feisclar backup.

Keep your school information together

Share a school logo, introduction, notices and optional Facebook group with connected families, and review school or branch requests before emailing.

1. Open My School

   Tap the school identity on the teacher or connected dancer homepage in Feis or Classes mode. Teachers can edit the local school page; connected dancers receive a read-only shared copy.

2. Preview and save

   Teachers can choose and crop a logo, write a school summary and shared notice, and optionally add a Facebook group link. Preview the page before saving. Private teacher notes stay separate from the shared school page. Changes reach connected dancers after sync.

3. Request catalogue changes

   For a new school, new branch or a change to school/branch details, open Settings → School requests. Choose the request type, complete the details and review the prepared email to admin@feisclar.com.

4. Send from your email app

   Opening the email app does not send the request. Review and send it yourself. The request does not immediately change the school catalogue; school names are managed by the administrator.

Find dancers in a larger roster

Search and filter rosters across Feis and Classes, with a saved preference for first name, last name, age group or grade order.

1. Choose a display order

   Open Settings → Dancer Display & Filter Order and choose First name, Last name, Age group or Grade. This saved preference is used by the shared roster controls. First and last names are optional; last-name order falls back to the display name when needed.

2. Narrow the list

   Use Find dancer, age-group choices and Clear filters where shown. Larger rosters have five groups ordered by age; teachers are excluded from these dancer groups and missing ages have an Age unknown choice.

3. Review grades for a dance

   In Grade order, use Grade for dance where available, then the grade filter. All dances can show Mixed when a dancer’s competition levels differ between dances. Check the visible count before selecting dancers for a class, register or Feis plan.

Clearer reminders and lesson navigation

Lesson notifications open the relevant lesson. Teacher devices avoid scheduling a separate duplicate reminder for every local student profile.

1. Check reminder settings

   Lesson reminders are optional device notifications. On a device with a local teacher profile, lesson reminders are scheduled for teachers rather than repeated for each local student profile. Family devices without a teacher profile can use dancer reminders.

2. Open the relevant lesson

   Tap a lesson reminder to open the associated lesson and profile. Review the current lesson details after sync, especially when a time or venue has changed.

3. Separate reminders from delivery

   A local reminder is not an instant message from the teacher. Published schedules, booking decisions, feedback and responses still depend on a successful sync between the connected devices.

Calendar dates and multiple editions

Calendar fixes restore first-day events on the website and address the blank Android date cell. Separate editions of a Feis can appear in the same year.

1. Check the whole event range

   The website calendar includes an event’s first and last dates, including single-day events. A multi-day edition such as 19–22 November should appear on each of those dates.

2. Distinguish editions

   When a Feis has more than one edition in a year, check the edition dates before opening or saving it. The app’s calendar list now gives each edition its own card identity.

3. Android month navigation

   Date cells now have a separate identity for each full date. This addresses the reported blank 19 November cell when moving from October to November. If your installed build still shows the issue, include its app version and a screenshot when contacting support.
